The Costa del Sol/Malaga region The Costa del Sol has been considered an international tourist destination since the early fifties of the past century. Nowadays, we are proud to say that modern infrastructures and an incomparable climate put the province of Málaga in the first place on the Spanish Peninsula in terms number of visitors.
The Costa del Sol enjoys a temperate climate and is mostly sunny all year round. The area has many places of interest and history. The white villages built in Andalucian Style are certainly worth a visit. Ronda is a charming historic town about 45 minutes drive from the coast. Gibraltar is steeped in History and now only takes 30-40 minutes drive.
Why not visit Seville or Cadiz or Granada about 2-3 hrs drive or take an overnight bag and stay the night. Take the train to Ronda from Ageciras . Another great day out is a day in Malaga, take an open top bus city tour and visit some of the great museums (Picasso) in the old square. Closer to home for the children animal Safari at Selwo hills, Water world at Fuengirola , and many more attractions, details can be found in brochures from the local shops or tourist shops or in the local english newspapers ( Sur) readily available at local shops.
It is often said that the province of Malaga is a small continent. Exaggerated and somewhat pretentious as this might sound, there is an element of truth in it. The province of Malaga, although the smallest in Andalusia, measuring 7.272 square kilometres, is indeed a land of contrast. Mountains, sea, rural villages and sophisticated tourist resorts. It is all here, enjoying the contrast is one of life’s rare pleasures. Puerto Banus / Nueva Andalucia area Golf is the sport on the Costa del Sol. It has more than 40 clubs, most of them beside residential developments and most in the western Costa del Sol area, making this the area with the highest concentration of golf courses in all of continental Europe. This has a lot to do with the climate, where the sun shines for about 300 days of the year, and it has a lot to do also with the natural evolution of quality tourism in the region.
One of the reasons for the Costa del Sol’s continuing existence as a major international tourism destination is because it has been capable of adapting to changing tourism patterns. You will be able to experience this improvement in our Westin La Quinta Spa & Fitness Centre.
Puerto Banús has one of the most cosmopolitan environments in all the Mediterranean and continues to be one of Marbella’s solidest tourist attractions. Its proximity to other tourist installations such as luxury hotels, golf courses and even other leisure ports, and the excellent land communications with the entire Costa del Sol and the interior of the province, only serve to increase the number of tourists—almost five million people—who travel here each year to enjoy its exclusive tourism offer. | | Transportation | Fly to Malaga Airport - The apartment is a 30 minute taxi ride from the airport. Alternatively get a bus from the airport to Marbella Bus station, followed by taxi to Puerto Banus approx 10 Euros. | | Airport | Malaga Airport |
